Buy Codeine Online , Codeine is a mild narcotic analgesic and cough suppressant similar to morphine and hydrocodone. In fact, a small amount of codeine is converted into morphine in the body. The precise mechanism of action of codeine is not known; however, like morphine, codeine binds to receptors in the brain (opioid receptors) that are important in transmitting the sensation of pain throughout the body and brain. Codeine increases pain tolerance, decreasing discomfort, but the pain is still noticeable to the patient. In addition to reducing pain, codeine also causes drowsiness from sedation and depresses breathing. Codeine is often combined with acetaminophen (Tylenol) or aspirin for more effective pain relief. What is the most important information I should know about codeine?
Codeine can be habit-forming and should only be used by the person for whom it was prescribed. Codeine should never be given to another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medicine in a safe place where others cannot reach it. Do not drink alcohol while taking codeine. Dangerous side effects or death can occur when alcohol is combined with pain medications. Check food and medicine labels to make sure these products do not contain alcohol. Never take more than the prescribed dose of codeine. Tell your doctor if the medicine seems to stop working even for pain relief. Codeine can cause side effects that can impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. Do not stop using codeine suddenly, or you may have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Talk to your doctor about how to avoid withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking it.
Special warnings and precautions for use
Codeine phosphate should be used with caution in the following conditions:
Patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine.
There is a possible risk of CNS excitation or depression with the concomitant use of opioids with MAOIs and the use is not recommended (see section 4.5).
Hepatic impairment: avoid if severe. Codeine may precipitate coma.
Renal failure.
Hypothyroidism.
Inflammatory bowel disease: codeine reduces peristalsis, increases the tone and segmentation of the intestine and may increase colonic pressure, therefore it should be used with caution in diverticulitis, acute colitis, diarrhoea associated with pseudomembranous colitis or after intestinal surgery.
Convulsions – may be induced or exacerbated.
Drug abuse or dependence (including alcoholism).
Gall bladder disease or gallstones: opioids may cause biliary contraction. Avoid in biliary disorders.
Gastrointestinal surgery: Use with caution after recent gastrointestinal surgery as opioids may alter gastrointestinal motility.
Urinary tract surgery: After recent surgery, patients will be more prone to urinary retention directly caused by urethral sphincter spasm and constipation caused by codeine.
Phaeochromocytoma: Opioids may stimulate the release of catecholamines by inducing the release of endogenous histamine.
Prostatic hypertrophy.
Adrenal insufficiency, eg Addison’s disease.
Hypotension and shock.
Myasthenia gravis.
Reduced respiratory function or history of asthma.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding (see section 4.6).
Elderly patients may metabolise and eliminate opioid analgesics more slowly than younger patients (see section 4.2).
The risk-benefit ratio of continued use should be regularly assessed by the prescribing physician.
Precautions before taking codeine
Opioid analgesics such as codeine relieve pain by acting directly on the central nervous system. However, this can also lead to serious side effects, such as drowsiness, dizziness, sedation, and physical or mental dependence. Like all narcotics, they can become habit-forming if used for long periods and have the potential to
